On August 17th, Santa Barbara’s only women’s surf school will hold its first Annual Block Party, hosted by AVA Santa Barbara and Pali Wine Co. The event will serve as a launching point for iSurf’s Watergirl Fund, a scholarship program that will provide needs-based scholarships for surf instruction, introducing the wonders of surfing to girls who may not otherwise have access to the sport.

iSurf’s mission is to break down the barriers that prevent women from surfing, be they physical, emotional or financial. Learning to surf is hugely empowering for all of the girls and women who go through the program as it builds confidence, community and camaraderie.

The Sunday Block Party will generate start up funds for Watergirl. The event will include a silent auction, raffle, music, food and wine and has a goal of raising $15,000 to provide needs-based scholarships for up to 30 girls. iSurf’s partners include local businesses Lole Atelier, SeaVees, Horny Toad, AVA Santa Barbara, Pali Wines, the Canary Hotel and many more (for a complete list please see the Watergirl Fund webpage).
